New Year, Same Great Co-Founders! Let Us Help You Gift in 2021.

Our first blog of 2021 — can you believe it? To us, the new year means new hope, new potential for goodness, and new opportunities to create happiness for and in others — we are all about it!

Something Splendid is excited to reconnect with you, now into 2021, starting with co-founder Allison. She has had a LOT going on in life — after welcoming her first bundle of joy, baby Andrew Douglas into the world, back in June 2020 — and is excited to share a bit more about her journey and give you the download on some of her favorite SS products and boxes to kick off the year.

  1. What is your gift-giving perspective? I'm a believer that there's no wrong occasion to give a gift. Whether it's something monumental like having a baby, or a proposal or wedding, to something as mundane as a sincere congratulations on a raise or an authentic sympathy gift for a loss, a good, meaningful gift can make such a positive difference in the course of someone's day and can really set them off on a far more optimistic foot. I love that!
  1. True or false: the best gifts usually make people cry. I don't know about the best gifts having that impact, but I do know we hear from customers quite a bit that Something Splendid has inspired quite a few tears in our day. Happy tears are always a secret goal of ours.
  1. What are your thoughts on whether a gift can be TOO thoughtful? Sometimes people worry that a gift can be too sentimental - what do you say in response? Too thoughtful doesn't exist. The more thoughtful and personalized and genuine, the more impactful and likely to really make a difference in someone's life. I would encourage everyone to be a little more thoughtful in 2021 - it can't hurt!
  1. For someone who may be hard to gift, what tips or advice do you offer the gift-giver? Are there certain categories or specific items you'd recommend as safe fall-backs? When in doubt, think back to a special moment you've shared with that person and go from there. Be inspired by experiences you've already shared, and use that as inspiration to create their next positive moment. When in doubt, there's always relying on the basics too: chocolate or alcohol.
  1. What are your four favorite boxes at the moment, and why? My favorite boxes right now - there are so many! I'll go with:

Back Home Again in Indiana Gift Box

“I love this box because it features some of my personal favorite, classic, Indiana-based companies like Just Pop In, while highlighting new and upcoming products like Breathe Free Essentials. It’s all things ‘Indiana’.”

Pamper Gift Box

“Let’s be honest, as a new, first-time mom, who doesn't need a little more pampering in life?! This box delivers all the things any woman would need to really lean into relaxation and me-time. Featuring goodies from MAST, Big Heart Tea Co. and more, you’ll be feeling your best with this in your hands.”

Seersucker + Saddles x Something Splendid Gift Box

“Now fully in nesting-mode, I’m onboard with anything and everything experts like Beth Chappo of Seersuckers + Saddles recommends. Her taste and style is impeccable and the fact that we were able to collaborate with her while still featuring some of Indiana’s best businesses is something to get and stay excited about!”

That’s a wrap for this week! We look forward to helping you with all your 2021 gifting and are genuinely appreciative of each and every one of you. Don’t be shy about reaching out with questions or seeking out our advice when it comes to choosing a curated box or taking a leap and using Build Your Own. That’s what we’re here for!

Until next week,

Your gifters,
Elyse, Erynn + Allison
Owners, Something Splendid
