The Gifts of Sweet Summertime

The dog days of summer lie ahead and, after a long dreary winter, we couldn’t be more excited. We’re looking forward to sunny fun-filled days that stretch into nights around the campfire with lightning bugs twinkling overhead. Since childhood, summer has been a time for going on adventures and making lifelong memories. And that certainly hasn’t changed! • Outdoors - Good weather makes for a good opportunity to enjoy nature. There are plenty of ways you can soak in the sun, from hiking to biking or even a swim. Just remember to safely prepare, with plenty of water, sunscreen, and by sharing your location with a close family member or friend.
• A backyard BBQ - One of our favorite ways to spend the summer is with loved ones. Put your hosting hat on and set up for a casual backyard barbeque or cocktail hour. If you have space, be sure to set up a designated kids area to entertain little ones.
• Travel - With the kids out of school, there’s no better time to plan a vacation. You can stay close to home when you plan a short camping trip, or make more extensive plans. Consider traveling to a historic or educational destination such as Washington, D.C.
